The Lindengate Charity at Wendover

With the proceeds of the 2015 raffle of Giant Easter Eggs we donated garden furniture together with a cheque for £500 to Lindengate.

The site provides mainly gardening activities in a tranquil rural environment to support people in their continuing recovery.

The 'Message in a Bottle' scheme is administered in Buckinghamshire by the Data Link Partnership which includes all the Lions clubs in the area, Buckinghamshire County Council, the emergency services and others. The scheme provides a plastic bottle which contains medical and other information which are of valuable assistance in case of emergency in the home. By reading the contents, those called out to the emergency are able to look after the person in difficulties and also, by co-operating with other organisations, can arrange for care of pets or indeed other people for whom that person themselves provide care.
In 2014 Aylesbury Lions Club launched Message in a Wallet, a new emergency information service, based on the established Message in a Bottle scheme.

The new scheme provides users with a printed form on which they can record any medication, illnesses or allergies they may have, together with a contact name, in case they are taken ill whilst away from home. It also includes information about any dependent who is left at home or even a much-loved pet that may need looking after. The form folds up into a small plastic cover, designed to be kept in a wallet or hadbag. Some other Lions Clubs have introduced the scheme in their areas.

Since the introduction of this scheme over 5,000 wallets have been distributed to local people. You can obtain a form and wallet for your personal use from local health centres or pharmacists that display a notice about the Message in a Wallet service.

There is no charge for this service.
